Plans for saving Whalom Park have new hopes!
Fitchburg MA and Leominster MA Daily News.- If heard all the news about what been happening with Whalom Park from the city of Leominster, you maybe know that in the year 2000 the park closed their doors of local entertainment forever or at least that was the plan... and they try to build apartment or condominiums instead.
Well, one local Leominster man made "Saving Whalom Amusement Park" his new live goal and with the help of a team of local members they've been trying to bring the park to life.
His name is Scott A. Lanciani, the founder of the local group. He used to work in the amusement park as a ride operator back in 1994... when he saw the news that the park was being sold he thought "somebody have to do something about this", but he never imaging that person will be him.
After a lot of work they still have not found a good place and enough funds for the park, till Lanciani received a call from town manager of Winchendon Mr. James M. Kreidler Jr.
Mr. Kreidler was a boy born and raised in the city of Fitchburg MA. He has been following the news about Whalom Park and now he is an authority in the town of Winchendon MA he decide to call Mr. Lanciani.
He said that Winchendon is a perfect home for the development of the new Whalom Park because Winchendon has the nickname of "Toy Town" he said the the city got the name when Morton Converse Toys, known for its wooden hobby horses, was a flourishing business around the turn of the century. Actually the history says that In 1914 during the 150th anniversary celebration for the Winchendon toy company, the owner dispatched carvers to Whalom Park to replicate an up-scaled version of one of the carousel horses: a 28-foot-high hobby horse.
Mr. Kreidler wants to see the group business plan, and their interest of the project.
For this reason The New Whalom Park Ownership Program group is looking for application to be part of the board of directors. They also looking for members with business administration knowledge, business management, finances, and land development.
Nice blog, I will like to see some videos about the city of Leominster and Fitchburg Mass...
