December 2010 North Central Career Centers Workshop Calendar (events)

Fitchburg and Leominster MA Event News. - The North Central Career Centers also known as the Unemployment Office have monthly workshops and events to help local residents with job hunting, skill building, and unemployment payment inquiries.

Here is December 2010 Workshop Calendar:

1. Career Center Seminar (CCS) This overview of Center services is the first step for all new members.

> Leominster. Tuesdays - Friday. 1:30-3:00.
> Gardner. Tuesdays, 1pm - 2:30pm.
Wednesday, 9am - 10:30am.
Thursday, 2pm - 3:30pm.

2. Resume and Cover Letter Basics: Learn how to develop a Resume & Cover Letter that markets your skills & achievements. Understand the do's & don'ts of resumes and cover letters.

> Leominster: 12/6, 12/20, 9am - 12pm.

3. GHAP Orientation: Do you need Health Insurance? GHAP helps uninsured people access affordable health care.

> Gardner. 12/14, 11am - 12pm.
> Leominster. 12/16, 11am - 12pm.

4. Shriver Job Corp Vocational training in today's top career fields for eligible youth ages 16-24.

> Leominster. 12/13, 12/27, 2:30pm - 4pm.

5. Overcoming the Age Barrier: Learn how to turn your age & experiences into an advantage.

> Leominster: 12/8, 9:30am - 12:00pm.

6. Fast Track: In 5-days workshop develop the tools (Resumes, Cover letters, Interviewing, Networking, etc.) & learn the techniques for effective job search.

> Leominster: 12/7 - 12/10 & 12/14, 9am - 12:30pm.

7. Hidden Job Strategies: Jobs are not always published. Learn some of the methods to uncover the best opportunities & how to contact the decision makers.

> Leominster: 12/15, 9:30am - 11:30am.

8. Coping with Job Loss: Meet others who are recently laid off. Learn strategies to keep moving forward.

> Leominster: 12/15, 9:30am - 11:30am.

9. First Impressions: This course will provide you with information on Resume, Cover Letters and interviewing. You will also have the opportunity to have your Resume critiqued.

> Gardner: 12/15, 2pm - 4pm.

10. Educational Options Seminar (EOS): Information about finding the ideal training program, researching options, financial aid, and UI concerns. You MUST bring a copy of your Resume & Job Search Log.

> Leominster; 12/3, 1pm - 2pm, 12/20 10am - 11am.

11. MassCIS: Not sure what direction to take in your career? Learn about a great website that will give you the information and tools needed to learn about new occupations.

> Leominster: 12/21, 10am - 11:30am.

12. STEM Orientation: Learn about the careers of today and tomorrow in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math.

> Leominster: 12/16, 10:30am - 12pm.

13. Interviewing with Confidence: Introduces strategies for interview preparation, the interview itself, & post-interview techniques.

> Leominster: 12/22, 9:30am - 12pm.

14. Intro to Linkedin: Make better use of your professional network to aid you in job search. Learn how to create a Linkedin account and explore settings and tools to help you build your online profile.

> Leominster: 12/13, 9am - 11:30am.

15. Stress & The Holidays: Feeling overwhelmed by job search and the holidays? Learn strategies to keep moving forward and staying positive.

> Leominster: 12/1, 9:30am - 11:30am.

16. Networking Group At this volunteer lead group, meet other job seekers, network, and discuss job search techniques.

> Leominster: 12/3, 9:30am - 11:30am.
