Transocean Goes From Gulf Of Mexico Oil Spill To Bonuses Donations

Fitchburg and Leominster MA Business News, Presented By The Justin Bieber Silly Bandz Store. - Transocean executives at the offshore drilling contractor at the center of last year's Gulf of Mexico oil spill decided to donate bonuses they got for the company's safety record last year.

The company disclosed the bonuses deep in a regulatory filing, justifying them by calling 2010 an example year for safety, despite the explosion on its rig that killed 11 and spilled 200 million gallons of oil. CEO Steven Newman and four others are donating their bonuses worth more than $250,000 to a fund set up by Transocean design to help the spill victim's families.
